Main Street
Project-Downtown Phase
The east block of the
downtown area is now closed to thru traffic
as paving is in progress. However, sidewalks on both sides are open
and some of the merchants can be accessed
from both front and rear entrances. Parking is
available in the gravel lots behind city
hall and along Orchard Street.
MTC has offered space behind their building
as well. Please continue to support your
local merchants during this phase. While you
may not be able to park right in front of
the store where you plan to shop, there is
plenty of parking available. See the
Before
and After
concept drawings here.

I'M GOING
TO DISNEYLAND!
Mediapolis
6th graders left 5-4-10 headed to Disneyland
as a result of their hard work on the "Save
the Quails" project. The students were grand
prize winners in the Disney's Planet
Challenge; chosen from entries nationwide.
The students will be in a parade down Main
Street U.S.A. in Disneyland and will be
featured on the Disney channel for the
accomplishment. Please see the Mediapolis
News for photos and the Good Morning America
and WQAD websites for links to live news
broadcasts featuring the Mediapolis 6th
Grade. CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done.
WEATHER RADIOS ARE HERE!
Weather radios are
available for residents and merchants of the
City of Mediapolis for the reduced price of
$16. You can pick them up at city hall and
we will be glad to program them for you if
you wish.
Rural Water
The Mediapolis City
Council elected to sign a contract with
Rathbun Rural Water Association to provide
water for the city. The change will begin in
June or July of 2010. You may not need your
water softener any longer, or at least will
need to have it cycle less often. Newer
dishwater settings may also need to be
changed. We will post the new water hardness
amount in the Mediapolis News, on this page
and in a newsletter as soon as we have that
information.
OPEN BURNING REGULATIONS
On October 3, 2005 the
Council adopted an Ordinance that
establishes certain days and hours when
leaves, yard waste and twigs may be burned.
Those days are Wednesday, Friday and
Saturday from 7 AM to 7 PM. The burning of
refuse is prohibited at all times.
Fines are $25 for first offense, $50
for second and $75 for third and any
subsequent offenses
