City of Mediapolis Links Policy
Adopted 6-17-04
The City of Mediapolis’ web site is an information and service channel provided for the use of and paid for by the citizens
of Mediapolis, Iowa. It is not a public forum. Links to other sites from this site are provided solely at the discretion of
the City of Mediapolis and is a convenience for the users of this site. The following policies shall be applicable when
determining whether to add a link to the City’s web site.
Policy 1. All links must have a direct relevance to the City of Mediapolis, Iowa, or its citizens.
Policy 2. Links are permitted to the U.S. or State of Iowa governmental agency websites as well as other web sites
maintained by or on behalf of national, state, regional or local governmental or public educational agencies.
Policy 3. Links are permitted to nonprofit groups or organizations that promote public health, safety, education,
development, and welfare, and civic activities within the City of Mediapolis. Should more than one link of similar nature be
requested, the City will post the one web link with the most local relevance.
Policy 4. If a web site or the web site’s sponsors are engaged in political, religious, or unlawful activities, the City of
Mediapolis will not permit links to such web sites.
Policy 5. The City reserves the right to reject any link it deems inappropriate. By including a link on the City of
Mediapolis page, it in no way indicates an endorsement of that web site or a verification of the information on that page.
The City of Mediapolis is not liable for the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of other users, links, web sites or
third parties.
Policy 6. Other web sites are free to include links directing users to the City of Mediapolis web site. Prior approval is
necessary.
Policy 7. If the City rejects allowing a link, the requesting party has the right to request a hearing before the City
Council.
Policy 8. The City reserves the right to change any or all of this policy without prior notice.
Policy 9. The City reserves the right to terminate a link without prior notice, should it later be learned that the web site
or one of its sponsors or links is in violation of any of the above policies.
The location of any link established within this site will be entirely at the discretion of the City of Mediapolis.
